Fix quota problems on Centos 6 and Linode

Monday, 11 January 2016 11:04 Written by

Quotas will fail on CentOS 6 on your linode as by default it will be looking for /dev/root. You can fix the issue by adding a symbolic link. The below will work for DirectAdmin, Cpanel and Virtualmin.

ln -s /dev/xvda /dev/root

Restarting you reserver will loose the link so you can stick the following in the /etc/rc.sysinit file just above the comment "# Update quotas if necessary"

# Create link to /dev/root for quota fix
ln -s /dev/xvda /dev/root

Diagnosing disk space on Linux

If your disk drive is suddenly full on one of your servers, and you are not using quotas, here is a quick way to diagnose what is using up all of your space.

du -h <dir> | grep '[0-9\.]\+G'

Dsfdsf Replace <dir> with the starting directory, if you have a single partition you can just use "/" or you could use df first to see what partition to delve in to.

The grep regular expression will filter the results by anything that is over a Gig.

Adding a symbolic link for clamav for maldet

Monday, 15 June 2015 20:55 Written by

Maldet will not automatically work on a cpanel server with clamav when you install it as a plugin through WHM. TO enable it you need to create a symbolic link to the place that cpanel installs it.

ln -s /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/clamscan /usr/bin/clamscan
